Former heavyweight world champion Andy Ruiz Jr. wants to regain his titles He is shedding some serious weight ahead of a big return.
‘The Destroyer’ parted ways with his former trainer and is under Eddy Reynoso’s (Canelo Alvarez’s trainer) guidance now. That said, it’s much more than boxing practice for Ruiz Jr.
The Mexican Gladiator claimed to have had to reshape his physical attributes. He has dropped almost 20lbs as of now.
Furthermore, he has envisioned a fight against Anthony Joshua, again. Although ‘AJ’ vs Ruiz Jr. happened twice and the Brit seems to have moved on, Ruiz Jr. is still to get over the rivalry.
He shocked the world by knocking out the undefeated (then) Joshua in their first encounter. Despite being bulky, ‘The Destroyer’ proved his worth.
While he lost to ‘AJ’ via decision in the rematch, he wants to have another crack at the titles. Ruiz Jr. posted a video of his recent training session on YouTube and sent the whole boxing world into a frenzy.
He looked shredded and showed the world that 2020 has been a year of transformation.
Speaking on his ongoing training, ‘The Destroyer’ said, “It’s hard man. I have never done this in my whole life. Never lift weights, never had a physical trainer like they are doing… It’s time to execute, time to get it back, time to work hard.”
Is it the time for Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr. 3?
Following a KO win over Kubrat Pulev on December 12, Joshua is eyeing a title unification fight with WBC champion Tyson Fury. But Andy Ruiz Jr. wants his trilogy fight to take place. It seems to have been the biggest motivating factor in his training.
During the recent clip, Ruiz Jr said, “I am doing this for you AJ.”
He added, “We are 20 lbs down”
Joshua also desired to face Ruiz Jr in a trilogy several times. They have one win each against each other and the scores are level. So, a trilogy matchup will only be the tie-breaker.
However, Ruiz Jr. should also be ready for the other contenders, considering the heavyweight unit is stacked with elites.
Do you think Andy Ruiz Jr. can fight against and beat Anthony Joshua again?
