Everything is falling in its place as we approach the first Grand Slam of the year. Currently, World No. 1 Novak Djokovic is in Spain, making preparations ready for the exciting 2021 season.
Winner of 2019 and 2020 Australian Open, Djokovic has a huge task ahead of him. Notably, the Serbian ace will aim to mark his second hat-trick at the Happy Slam. He has completed the feat once before, claiming the title in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
But before taking on the tennis court, the 33-year-old took a trip to a beach in Marbella, Spain. His family also gave him the company in the short outing.
Novak Djokovic training with Roberto Carballes in Spain
Considering the conditions in Australia, Djokovic moved to Spain to train for the upcoming season. More, he even bought a gigantic villa in Marbella.
However, the Serbian is well-known for leaving no room for errors in his preparations. Alongside the training, he also follows a very stringent plant-based diet.
On a hard court in Spain, Novak is training with home-country player Roberto Carballes Baena. The latter shared the video of returning balls with the Serbian. He also wrote, “Good practice with @Djokernole.”
Moving forward, the 17-time Grand Slam champion will quarantine in Adelaide ahead of Australian Open. Recently, he revealed that he is displeased with having two bubbles.
With Djokovic, World No. 2 Rafael Nadal and World No. 3 Dominic Thiem will pursue two-week quarantine in Adelaide. Simona Halep, Naomi Osaka, and Serena Williams are also a part of the Adelaide group.
Djokovic is eyeing big records in 2021
While the Serbian ace goes lengths to bring a modern transition in tennis, he is always outspoken about his opinions. Apart from exceptional tennis, controversies are one thing to be expected from Djokovic in 2021.
Nevertheless, the 6-time year-end World No. 1 would want to keep his rank for one more year. In doing so, he will make the all-time record of being the year-end top player the most number of times.
Plus, Djokovic has narrowed Roger Federer’s 310 weeks as Number 1 record to a matter of few more weeks. Nadal, alone, has the slimmest chance to stop the Serbian from breaking the record.
All in all, Novak will definitely bring an enthralling season of tennis ahead. And only time will tell us what he has in the stock for us.
