WATCH: Alpine Show off Striking New Winter Livery During Ocon’s F1 Outing

Renault is entering the 2021 grid under a new name, Alpine F1. The Alpine F1 team is going to launch their new livery on March 2, 2021. They will launch the A521 car on the same day as the reigning champion, Mercedes.

With just over a month to go, teams have started launching their 2021 machines to the F1 community. Alpine F1 is rebranding themselves and coming to the grid with a whole new identity in order to challenge teams for regular podiums.

The team posted a Twitter video of Esteban Ocon driving the R.S.18 painted in Alpine’s winter livery. The Frenchman was seen revving the 2018 Renault car at Paul Ricard during a lap run-out as the fans express their love for the team’s winter livery.

Christian Lundgaard drives Alpine F1’s dashing winter livery

The team launched their winter livery in red, white and blue as a teaser a month ago. This was done to solidify their new brand identity. However, the livery will not race on the track, it does define our expectations for the season livery.

“The blue, white and red refer to the colours of the French and British flags, which is very important to us. Numerous variations on all the motorsport assets are still to come,” stated a report.

Christian Lundgaard, Alpine F1 academy driver, got his chance to take the Renault R.S.18 for a spin around Paul Ricard too. The Formula 2 driver took the car around the track a couple of days ago.

Alpine’s F1 car, A521, also has a reason behind it. The A500 refers to the project line of previous cars, A110, A310, etc. The 21 at the end refers to the year the car will race in. Alpine’s design director, Antony Villain, has clarified that some structural element will remain on the racing livery too.

The team will enter the grid with Esteban Ocon and former champion, Fernando Alonso. The team claimed three podiums last season and finished at the P5 position with 14 points behind Racing Point. The team is looking forward to improving on their last season’s result.
