The Kentucky Wildcats lost a total of six games last season. They are already at five losses in the 2020-21 season. On Sunday they succumbed to a defeat against UNC despite leading at half-time.
Last night, coach John Calipari addressed this miserable form. He also spoke about a lot of things like Keion Brooks Jr’ leadership, how he still has faith, and also said he needs support from the fans.
“Losing stinks now,” Calipari said. “I hate it, for our fans, for our players, our staff. I take 24 hours to grieve and then I start thinking how do we get this right? Truth be told, we’re playing better. We’re doing some better things but last four minutes we’re not playing winning basketball. So I’ve got to do my thing and get these guys understanding how you gotta play on both sides of the ball.”
Can the Kentucky Wildcats end the year on a positive note?
The Wildcats have two more games before 2020 ends. They are up against the Louisville Cardinals next, which is an away game on December 26, followed by a home game against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The first game against the Cardinals could be a tough one. They are currently 4-1 and are coming off a shock blowout loss against the Wisconsin Badgers. So both teams will be coming into the game looking for a win.
The game against the Gamecocks should be easier. They have played three games so far and have won once. Kentucky has a lot more quality in their ranks compared to them. South Carolina will also be rusty considering they have a 20+ day break before they play Kentucky.
Calipari’s boys will be aiming to win at least one of these two games as the year comes to an end. They will hope for better luck for the rest of the season, as they fight to qualify for the NCAA tournament. They have been very poor so far and desperately need to improve.
