Javed Akhtar files caveat in Supreme Court after Kangana Ranaut’s plea for transfer of cases to Shimla
It was only a few days back when and her sister Rangoli Chandel approached the court and sought the transfer of all their cases from Mumbai to Shimla. Now, Javed Akhtar who had earlier registered a criminal complaint against the actress has filed a caveat at the Supreme Court. He has requested that he be heard in the Tanu Weds Manu actress and her sister’s plea seeking transfer of the pending cases against them from the city to Shimla.
For the unversed, a litigant files a caveat to ensure that the Supreme Court passes no adverse order without hearing the party’s side. Meanwhile, Kangana and Rangoli had earlier alleged threat to their lives if the trial proceeds in Mumbai. To be precise, the two sisters apprehended material threat to their life and property and accused the Maharashtra Government of harassing them. Earlier, Javed Akhtar filed a criminal complaint against the actress for making defamatory comments against him in interviews.
This case was filed in front of the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate. The lyricist also sought strict action against Kangana under various sections of IPC. His complaint stated that her baseless comments maligned his reputation. For the unversed, advocates Jay K Bhardwaj and Nitish Massey have filed the caveat on behalf of Javed Akhtar. On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli’s plea includes the request for transfer of all the FIRs and cases registered against her including the one filed by Akhtar himself.
