Unified heavyweight titleholder Anthony Joshua became a global sensation with an unprecedented professional run that saw him become the world champion twice. Although Joshua lost his ‘undefeated’ tag in the process, he still registered his name amongst the elites.
Following his recent KO win over Kubrat Pulev, the Brit hinted at considering retirement. That said, Anthony Joshua has clearly lived a hall-of-fame worthy career and DAZN wanted to showcase his journey in a three-part documentary.
‘Titled ‘The Making of Anthony Joshua’, the documentary will showcase the best moments of AJ’s fighting career. It will also have opinions of several boxing veterans who saw the unified champion rise to the top. Joshua will also relive his fight days and reflect on how he overcame different opponents.
Speaking in the trailer, Joshua said, “Tough times can either make you or break you. It was tough, but it made me. I was like come on let’s fight where are you going?”
While his rivalry with Dillian Whyte appeared vile, its nothing but respect now. Joshua looked back at his in-ring encounter with ‘The Body Snatcher’ and appeared allured by Whyte’s passion.
“This is the passion of Dillian Whyte,” said Joshua.
He added, “I had to dig deep, and that’s the type of fight people remember for the many years to come.”
What’s next for Anthony Joshua?
It’s almost time for the ultimate British heavyweight showdown which will have Tyson Fury (WBC champion) and Anthony Joshua (WBA, WBO, IBF champion) stand against each other. The showdown has been touted for years but has never come close to fruition.
Nevertheless, 2021 looks like the perfect year to make it happen. Both Matchroom Boxing and Top Rank have desired to book the fight. Also, Fury and Joshua have vowed to face each other to unify the titles. So, fans can expect the heavyweight champions to collide soon.
After that, Joshua might take a few more fights before calling it a day. He is already a superstar and a world champion with monumental achievements under his belt. Do you think it’s the right time for Joshua to retire?
