Coco Gauff and Catherine McNally Reportedly Split Post Australian Open 2021 Exit
American teenager Coco Gauff is a modern-day player, competing in singles and doubles at the various tournaments played on Tour. In doubles, she enjoyed a partnership with fellow American player Catherine McNally. Together the pair have won two titles at the Washington Open and Luxembourg Open during the 2019 season.
Both teenagers Coco Gauff and Catherine McNally were part of the Australian Open 2021 doubles event and came as far as the quarterfinal round. During the tournament, they beat the 6th seed pair of Gabriela Dabrowski and Bethanie Mattek-Sands. After that, they beat 9th seeds Alexa Guarachi and Desirae Krawczyk. Their exit came at the hands of the 4th seed pair Nicole Melichar and Demi Schuurs.
Coco Gauff and Catherine McNally End Their Doubles Partnership
Following their exit at the Australian Open this year, Gauff and McNally decided to end their partnership. At Adelaide International beginning the next week, Gauff will partner along with Canada’s Sharon Fichman, who made an exit in the quarterfinal of the Australian Open too. Sharon won three WTA doubles titles and 21 titles on the ITF circuit.
Coming to Gauff and McNally, the pair decided to end their partnership as they have not tasted success after the two titles they won in 2019. In the Australian Open last year, the pair suffered a similar fate, losing in the quarterfinal as they did this season.
Reflecting on Gauff’s performance in the singles section, she lost to Elina Svitolina in the second round of the Australian Open. In the previous season, Gauff caused an upset when she beat the defending champion Naomi Osaka.
