Earlier this month, BLACKPINK set the record for surpassing 1.2 billion views with Kill This Love on YouTube. According to Soompi, Kill This Love which released on April 5, 2019, at 12 am KST, which means that it took about one year, 10 months, and 4 days to reach the milestone. Now, BLACKPINK has added another jewel to their star-studded crown.
According to a report by Soompi, BLACKPINK’s DDU-DU DDU-DU’s official music video reached 1.5 billion views on YouTube. This makes BLACKPINK the first K-pop act ever to achieve the milestone. DDU-DU DDU-DU was first released on June 15, 2018, at 6 p.m. KST, which means that it took two years, eight months, and eight days to hit the 1.5 billion view mark on YouTube. The Pretty Savage hitmakers are the first K-Pop group to have two music videos with over 1.2 billion views. Their first music video to break the record DDU-DU DDU-DU is sitting pretty with over 1.5 billion views on YouTube. Kill This Love is also now the fastest K-pop group music video to surpass 1.2 billion views. This achievement also makes BLACKPINK and PSY, the only Korean artists in the honorary billion views club. DDU-DU DDU-DU is a foot-tapping, peppy track infused with bubble-gum pop sounds.
