Nintendo has done a great job to keep the world of Animal Crossing: New Horizons constantly changing. The real-life simulator receives regular event-themed updates alongside dynamic seasons, wildlife, and vegetation. They have even shown that they are not shy to share the spotlight with major franchises like Mario and Sanrio.
Considering Animal Crossing last received a version 1.9 update, logically the next update will take it to version 2.0. Traditionally, Nintendo has utilized 2.0 updates to revamp the game completely.
For instance, the ‘Welcome Amiibo’ update that New Leaf received added new villagers, currency, challenges to complete, and a map expansion. Similarly, Nintendo’s Splatoon 2’s version 2.0 update introduced 140 clothing items, new hairstyles, music, stages, and level caps.
What to expect from Animal Crossing: New Horizons future updates
Brewster is a resident we have seen in previous iterations of the game and has been closely linked with a return in New Horizons. The resident typically operates a coffee shop called The Roost. Here, players could purchase one cup a day for 200 bells.
The return of the coffee shop could also signify the return of the shop’s mini-games and characters around the island holding items like donuts and sandwiches.
Continuing with the theme of mini-games, it seems like Animal Crossing is now a shell of its former self. New Leaf incorporated many mini-games, including a whole new island dedicated to them.
Tortimer’s Summer island was accessible by boat once you had paid off your home loan. The only season on the island was that of summer. As a result, you could catch seasonal bugs and fish here. Additionally, we saw an array of mini-games such as hide and seek and diving competitions.
Lastly, we have not seen as many building upgrades. One such example is that of Nook’s Cranny. In New Leaf, the store had four upgrades compared to the two it has in New Horizons.
Nintendo has done a fantastic job so far in keeping their game enjoyable. Would you like to see any of these elements added to the game? Let us know which ones you are most excited about in the comments below.
